This past weekend was the Bentley rodeo and fair, as well as the Bentley Centennial Celebration as the little town First Blush Photography is based out of is now 100 years old.  Bentley throws an amazing party every year for the fair and rodeo including of course a fantastic indoor rodeo at the local curling rink that they transform (with an amazing amount of volunteer time) that always produces an amazing show and a great venue to enjoy an afternoon by yourself or take the kids to.  This year also brought a ton of activities for the children including the much loved ‘bouncy castles’ and of course a magic show and face painting.

The fair and rodeo also includes a lot of fun options for families, including the BazAArt Show which featured several very talented local artisans with talents such as Photography, Painting & Drawing, Pottery, Textile and Jewelry making.  The organizers also did a super awesome job of hosting a Wine and Beer tasting downstairs featuring some delicious talent.  I could write up an entire extra post on the delicious beverages I sampled downstairs but if your in the market for a little something extra, please visit Fallentimber Meadery and give their honey based products a try.  I may or may not have visited them a few extra times to sample a specific beverage a few extra times…YUM!

A Little About First Blush Photography

First Blush Photography was very proud to be part of this art show with so many talented vendors.  I passed out many cards that will hopefully find their way to future customers and long term customers of First Blush Photography who are looking for fantastic photography but also for a little magic to happen at the same time.  As I explained to everyone I spoke to, First Blush Photography takes photography to the next level and works WITH you to create the ideal image and setting – I am not just a ‘shoot and burn’ photographer who is happy to collect your hard earned money, learn nothing about you, actually appreciate that there is no plan for your images except to take them and deliver your images months later with no editing or retouching.  First Blush Photography strives to make every image taken perfect and I make sure that your images have a final end goal – whether that be in an album, wall art or something else that is very special and will become that perfect heirloom that your grandchildren and generations after will love and appreciate.

At the end of the weekend every year, there is a magnificent fireworks display that much of the Town shows up to watch on Railway Ave.  To be honest, this is the first year that I made the decision to go out (past my bedtime) and go watch them and try to capture a few awesome images from.  Having so many young children sleeping at that time of night I have always watched the fireworks from my bedroom window with my fingers and toes crossed that my triplets would sleep through the show and not wake up.  Phew…made it through another year.

A single note about the firework images was that sadly I lost the top of my tripod, so the images I took were exclusively handheld which isn’t ideal for fireworks shooting at a slower shutter speed, but I did have several that turned out really good and I very much wanted to share them with everyone who loved them as much as I did.  How much fun was this years show?  It was AWESOME.  It was long, involved and so exciting – it has been years since I have watched a really good fireworks show and last nights was just stupendous.  I was so excited about the beauty and power of the firework display – it is amazing what chemistry can create.

Thank you so much to the Town of Bentley as well as the Bentley Ag Society for all of their hard and dedicated work, as well as the organizers of the Bentley BazaArt.  It was a lot of fun and I can’t wait until next year!
