Red Deer Family Photography & How Contests Influence Your Session

Red Deer Family Photographer, Suzanne Taylor Photography creates beautiful fine art photographs from your everyday love.

When you need a good Red Deer family photographer – where do you search and what do you search for online?  Photographers are a dime a dozen, and there are thousands in this province alone, and it is isn’t hard to find someone to happily take your money for a few images burned onto a disk or delivered digitally.  Will that cost reflect the vision you have for your family images and the love you share as a family?

As a Red Deer Family Photographer, I like to ensure that your session isn’t just a regular session that anyone with a camera could capture for you.  Part of how I make sure that what I capture is unique, fun and emotionally charged is by entering yearly contests in Fine Art contests and hoping that the year’s growth in photography is selected by the judges to receive a reward.

Contests happen year round, but several have only one cycle (one award per year), and those are some of the best to enter.  This year, I entered the 12th Annual Spider Awards and had had a total of 5 images that were chosen as Nominees for an award – pretty rad hey?

How your Red Deer Family Photographer Works a Session

So what does this mean for you as the customer?  Sure – this lady takes some kinda neat and swell pictures, but how does that impact my Red Deer family photography session?  Good question!

Photography, much like any art or business opportunity has the potential to become stale.  I see it every year over and over as photographers all vie for the consumer’s last penny.  Portrait photography is a dog eat dog kind of business where sadly too many people with little to no business sense have decided to run business’ – and are spending more time trying to copy each other rather than just focusing on being that great Red Deer Family Photographer.  I speak first hand because for YEARS I worked to follow the footsteps of too many close acquaintances – and to be honest, it is what pushed me to make Suzanne Taylor Photography into what it is today.  I admired so many photographers, and copied so many shoots and ideas…it was shameful.  The problems started though when I did get better and started worrying about everyone else doing the same thing to me (funny how that works hey?).  You can start obsessing about events that may or may not happen – today, tomorrow, next week, next month…or never?  What a total and ridiculous waste of time for any Red Deer family photographer.

When I started focusing my time and effort on my customers and my work, I began to look for unique creative angles that were not inspired by anyone – they were just what I thought would make great art.  It is such a relief when you start working for yourself and not running along the heels of everyone else doing that very thing – and this is precisely where the Red Deer family photographer’s customers benefit from.

When you have a photographer, who has passion, drive and has that annoying habit of perfectionism it all leads up to one of the best experiences you can have as a family having pictures taken.  My goal is to always leave a session with at least one image that I feel could do well in the competition and no kidding – I have submitted some of those and captured an honour or two in the process.  I will say it over and over – working with a Red Deer family photographer that continues to strive higher and better continually is going to produce images that you would not expect and images that you will love forever.

The Importance of Red Deer Family Photography

Why is investing in professional photography important to your family?  Why is it so important to have moments captured by Suzanne Taylor Photography?  The answer to that is a decision that only you as a customer can make by reviewing the portfolio on www.suzannetaylorphotography.com deciding if you want photographs of your family that you will cherish forever and enjoy as an artful tribute to the people you love the most.  My style of photography isn’t for everyone that is looking for a photographer – and that is completely OK.  What I promise you with Suzanne Taylor Photography is that you will have images that capture not only the love and beauty of the relationships in your family but also preserve those amazing moments in an artful and beautiful way so that your images stand out and are unforgettable.
