Award Winning Photography doesn’t just happen – does it?

Being an award-winning photographer isn’t something that happened overnight for me.  When I first started my photographic journey, I never dreamed that one day I would be able to place ‘award-winning’ on my business cards.  I always loved taking pictures, and I also love the art of competition by itself, but it didn’t grab hold of me until about two years ago.  I decided to enter a few competitions – what was the worst that could happen – right?  I hoped to learn from the judges and see where my work ranked.

The National Association of Professional Child Photographers (NAPCP)

The NAPCP (National Association of Professional Child Photographers) has also been very kind to me over the past two years since I joined their professional organization and became an award-winning photographer.  I have won 3 awards and two honourable mentions through their organization between the three competition cycles I have entered into.  The last competition cycle I joined I didn’t place at all – anything, zip, nada.  You never know when ‘that’ image will be captured.

Shoot and Share

The Shoot and Share competition was a competition that I entered, but mostly because I was pressured to by some other peers in the community.  It is a free competition, and you can enter up to 50 images, so really there is nothing to lose.  I entered it and to my total surprise and excitement placed 3rd in the Child category placing ahead of over 11,000 other images (approx. – I can’t remember the exact number) and that felt awesome.  I won a ton of prizes (which is rare – it is usually just a title that you win) and appreciated the love and support I felt from the thousands of people that voted – my peers.

I have also placed in the Spider Awards and the Baby Awards as well as the Wedding Awards company – and I am very proud of all of the images that I have created.  Thank you so much for taking a look!
