Let’s start off with who I am before we get into who Lacey Lane is.

My name is Suzanne Taylor and I am a work at home mom near Red Deer, Alberta to a 4.5 year old boy and THREE almost 2.5 year old Girl/Boy/Girl triplets.  In another time I used to be a social worker where I worked for many years in Children’s Services and also in psychiatrics.  I loved being a social worker despite the never ending stress and paperwork. I will be honest and say I miss it as well as it was rarely boring and I haven’t done it in so long I am probably forgetting some of the reasons that I didn’t miss it immediately after leaving…lol. Choosing to start a family really began my journey into photography which is why I initially began photographing.  I always wanted to take ‘good pictures’ of my children ‘one day’ when we had ‘one or two’.  Fortunately, my goal was met and likely I have thousands upon thousands of images of all four children that I love and will cherish forever.  I post many of these images and enter them in competitions as well, hoping to place so I can market that and hopefully bring more business in – who doesn’t want their children’s images captured by a multi-published (which I am), award winning (which I am still not) photographer? So – one thing that I know for a fact is that the public likes variation, as in seeing the same images over and over makes them bored.  I know I can take a great picture, and I know that I can edit well, but it’s not really enough anymore.

The photography market is so over satuated with a large proportion of ‘good’ photographers charging peanuts for work they could charge 200-500 a session more for but don’t for various reasons, but mainly because they are scared they will loose customers.  That is a whole other post for another day though ;). So my decision over the last year to try and set myself apart was to begin investing in costume options for my customers to choose from to dress their little girls in for sessions.  One of the newer lines I discovered awhile back was Lacey Lane.  Lacey Lane is an ADORABLE brand of children’s wear from Australia, growing very quickly in popularity within North America for sure – likely elsewhere as well…I just know that people love them on the boards I follow on Facebook for Resale and Bragging rights. They are well crafted items that are made pretty sturdy from what I can see.  The vintage feel the clothes have to them keep me interested as I can reuse them and potentially resell them in the future.  The designes are just plain cute as well.  It’s hard to keep little girls clothing looking cute and appropriate without loosing a lot of style that usually introduces elements of ‘sexy’ that children can do without.  That is a fine line though, and what meets one persons threshold of inappropriate may not be another persons and lines get blurred. In my honest opinion, Lacey Lane has been able to capture all the feminism needed to make little girls dressed up adorably yet fully covered with mid-thigh shorts and fully coverage necklines on a lot of their blouses and playsuits.  That is a huge seller for me as a photographer and mom to two little girls – I am very aware of the dangers of posting images of little girls online and like my girls to look adorable but safe at the same time.

I need to add that their packaging for accessories is a little cardboard box with a magnetic closure so you can use it over and over…nice touch Lacey Lane Clothing.  Another plus I have never experienced but heard a ton about is their customer service.  Many times they will apparently throw in a goodies of sorts to say thank you and help solve your problems quickly and efficiently.  People rave about it, so you know it’s good. So who am I to Lacey Lane? I am a loyal customer who will likely continue to shop as a member of the Lacey Lane rewards family and will continue to photograph my children and other children in their fashions.   Girl wearing Lacey Lane sunglasses smiling at the camera.
