Breastfeeding photography has become one of the most celebrated and beautiful forms of photography that can be captured during that nurturing time in a women’s life.  Calgary Breastfeeding photography sessions are a chance to capture the bond and the beauty of feeding your child.

Old Friends.

As you go through life, you meet people.  Some people you meet at the good times in your life – some people you meet at the more difficult.  I truly believe that meeting people typically benefits life as you move along it.  Some people you never see again – others you see all the time.  Others come back into your life randomly which to me is the sweetest part of those relationships.  This beautiful Mom was one of those relationships.

Facebook and social media is an amazing thing.  We have gone from hoping to attend reunions at 10 and 20 years, to now knowing what our friends from High School and University (or wherever you spent those formative years of your life) had for dinner tonight.  Social media allowed this particular friend of mine, from long ago to follow my photography and to reach out to me about a year ago wanting to book a photography session that was going to capture her breastfeeding her two children, as well as show the bond the three of them had together.  Well that was an obvious yes.  We started planning her ‘earth mama’ style shoot and the date was set for her to come from Calgary and shoot in our area.  It was a fantastic idea and I think we completely captured what a Calgary Breastfeeding Photography session looked like.

What is a Calgary Breastfeeding Photography Session?

A Calgary Breastfeeding Photography session structure is very similar to a typical family photography session, except that normally it is just focused on the Mother as well as the child and or children.  The time spent together is time spent capturing the energy, the bond and the love between Mom and the little people she created.  It is meant to be a session captured that is light, beautiful and focused on the BOND – both in capturing those emotions between the people as well as the small details that reflect that bond like the gentle finger hug of a baby or a mom lovingly holding the feet of her child.

The Kids.

During this Calgary breastfeeding photography session, I had the chance to capture each of her beautiful children independent of their Momma and really embrace the beauty of each of these children.  Her son is a sensitive spirit with a streak of wild and perfection that only little boy’s own.  He is so full of life and beauty but also curiosity and so much love for his Mother.  On the other hand, her daughter is a direct little girl that is suspicious and works on her own terms.  I have photographed this beauty twice now and she is EXACTLY like my oldest triplet.  Difficult until you’re about to throw in the towel and then she turns it on.  I can tell you though that she is a perfect baby girl and while she has a fiercely independent spirit, she only has eyes for her Momma.

That Sunset.

At the end of the shoot we decided to go to the lake to capture the sunset and what a sunset it was.  It was so beautiful and magical and the children really enjoyed that beautiful summer evening in the lake.  It was beautiful watching Mom and her very curious children explore the lake and embrace the sunset as they had never done before together.

This very well could be the most beautiful session I have ever photographed.  Everything came together in the way that you hope every session can.  The family was beautiful, the floral crown from Stems in Red Deer was radiant and the weather and light was the best you can ask for.  This session was very special and something I as the photographer will never forget.
