Child Photo Competition: Love
I was scrolling through my email this morning and I saw an ad for Child Photo Competitions newest monthly competition theme come up. I love this company and they embrace the style of photographic art that I am known for in the Red Deer, AB and Calgary, AB areas. In the last year I have placed in five of their monthly competitions, sadly missing a couple of months due to being just too busy to plan and conceptualize a shoot to win a contest.
Anyway, I was sitting this AM eating breakfast, scrolling my emails and upon seeing this notice, I thought to myself – “Hey – You never checked to see if you placed for the theme Love”. I don’t even remember getting an email that the results were announced but certainly if they were announcing the next contest, “Love” must have been judged and posted.
I headed over to the Child Photo Competition website and found the Love contest and saw immediately that I did not win.
Bummer.
However as I scrolled down I saw a very familiar photo of my two daughters intertwined sharing a smooch from the Top Down perspective. The second I saw this child photo I knew it was going to do well – it was unique, beautiful and the most important point of all – showed the theme of Love. Press HERE to see it live…
Yea!
As a Red Deer Photographer (and a Calgary Photographer as the year progresses into the summer months) capturing those special child photo moments artfully is what is the most satisfying to me as a photographer. This year I plan to start photographing more moving sports – much like Ballet and Gymnastics, but again in a very artful and beautiful way that will help freeze that moment, skill and beauty into an image forever.
