Dance has always been part of my life – and has been part of my children’s since they were 2 years old. I did all of the fun compulsory dances that all little girls do growing up in Alberta. I did ballet, then moved to jazz and ultimately transferred those skills to Musical Theatre later when I was in High School in Calgary, AB. Once I grew up and had kids, I enrolled my triplets in dance at Dancer’s Edge as soon as I could. A couple of years went by and my middle triplet hung up his tap and ballet shoes and moved into Martial Arts and my youngest changed studios to focus on Hip Hop – but my oldest triplet endured and this year celebrated the end of her 7th year with Dancer’s Edge.
I was blessed to be asked by Heather to photograph the year-end Gala at Red Deer Polytechnic. It is humbling always to be chosen to photograph any live event – but theatre performances are always a thrill. Photographing different lighting, movement and costumes is a really unique contract for Suzanne Taylor Photography and I had an amazing time watching and capturing all of your children excelling at the efforts they had made all year in the new Dancer’s Edge Lacombe and Blackfalds, AB studios.

A couple of quick notes regarding the images:
- Lighting – as a photographer for 18 years now – I am very well versed in managing changing lighting conditions, however, stage lighting is its own special category. Each image was hand edited and straightened to capture the actual image to make it as perfect as possible. Due to stage location and lighting – some images are more naturally dark than others. If there is a special image you would like me to work up further, please send me an email at suzannetaylorphotography@gmail.com and we can discuss what you would like to change about the image and I can quote you a price for the extra touch-ups.
- In total, I edited 2,270 images which is more than an average wedding in 1/3 of the time frame. It was an amazing ride and I am very pleased to provide you with these images to use for personal use. If you wish to use them for any commercial purposes, please contact me to arrange for the release.
- The images are split into three Dropbox Groups – please pick your performance and feel free to go through all of them and relive the image moments together from the shows.
- There is no extra cost to the images, but I would be thrilled if you could credit Suzanne Taylor Photography with any of the images you display online. Covid took a toll on all small businesses in Red Deer, AB and the area, and it really does help to share the photography and name of the business in the posts.
