Musea the Printer |
Red Deer & Calgary Photography
In the world of photography, there is no end of specialty services like Musea Lab offers. Let’s face it – photography itself is specialty service but the services offered to photographers are plentiful. I keep my product list fairly short and products that best display the Fine Art images that I create in the Red Deer and the City of Calgary, AB area. I am sure at some point in your life though, you have either seen or owned a mug with a loved one’s face on it – or maybe even a beer stein or t-shirt. I have owned many of these products over the years and loved every one of them.
When you work under the classification of “Fine Art Photographer”, the standards are very high when you look at offering products that match the style and quality of the images that you create. You can’t create an award winning image and sell a ‘novelty’ to display it on. It wouldn’t do the artwork any justice – straight to the point. Suzanne Taylor Photography is extremely proud to offer prints, professional gallery wrapped canvas, fine art metal prints and professional padded and bound albums – as well as digital images as singles, groups of 10 or your full gallery.
As you may know or not know, Suzanne Taylor Photography is heavily affiliated with the National Association of Professional Child Photographers (NAPCP). I have belonged to their organization since January of 2014 and since then won four major awards through them (and merited in two other categories). I have won First Place in the category Siblings, First and Third Place in the category Child and the last award was First Place in the category Family. One of the amazing perks of these awards is not limited to the glory of winning (you should be happy when you win something tough) but you also get a matte Fine Art print of your winning entry printed and matted by Musea Professional Lab.
Who is Musea you may ask?
Musea Lab is one of the highest quality photo labs in the United States of America. They specialize in Museum Quality prints and have this written directly on the front page of their website:
“Prints matter because…
they can be lived with every single day. They aren’t buried on a hard drive never to be seen again. They bring life to a home. Prints are physical copies of our memories. Prints allow us to hold our family history in the palm of our hand. Prints let our children know they are loved. Prints matter because they remind us of what’s truly important in life.” – Musea Lab
Wow. What a mouthful that statement is. Any company that believes this really and truly knows what they are doing – and believe that quality outshines quantity any day. The most striking aspect of Musea is not only the museum grade papers they use but the time and care they take for each individual print. Remember when you were little (I am thinking the ’80’s and 90’s) and you used to go to the mall and watch pictures be developed and printed right in the window of the developing store? With zero regards for privacy (how things change) I remember watching memories come out one at a time out that huge machine while a technician sat at the side and fed film into it. What a time to be alive.
Looking back on that now though, I think of how indiscriminate this process was and how each film was just fed into the machine. So long as the pictures came out, that was all that was examined or checked prior to slipping the order into a paper sleeve and placing them in the bin for pickup. No one checked colors, tones, exposure, etc and then prided themselves on knowing that the colors in the image were the EXACT same ones that the photographer had in mind when they took that image.
Why Musea Lab is Number 1
When you are a professional photographer in the Red Deer and Calgary, AB area and begin to win awards, it becomes a very addictive cycle. In the NAPCP I have the honor and privilege of working alongside some of the industry’s best professional child photographers. The images that are created amongst the talent in this organization is staggering and makes you want to work that much harder EVERY SHOOT to stay on top and continue to produce images that are striking and honest – the things that connect us the most to any image you see.
Very recently, I entered my first print competition. I had never done this before and to be honest it was completely nerve-wracking. I submitted an entirely new image created with my children having a pillow fight together under the category “Movement” and I contacted Michael (Founder and CEO of Musea Lab) to find out about my options as well as his thoughts about the museum quality papers I selected (I submitted two images). Michael always messaged me back IMMEDIATELY when I was in doubt, and his professionalism and appreciation of the art and business came first each time. I commented that I was acting neurotic and he was pretty ok with it – the sign of a true professional. There is only one chance to make a first impression at a professional competition. When I needed to make sure that it was going to look the best it could – and needed to hear that it was finished and looked amazing, Michael was there for me and told me that everything looked amazing. Hand holding like that is worth every penny in my world.

I want to thank Michael and his team over at Musea Lab for establishing a bar way above any other lab that is available to customers in this profession. Care and love are what sets Musea apart – as well as an amazing product that stands out. From the courting process where you ask a million questions and act all neurotic to the submission and creation of the prints (please click here to read more about that) and then to the loving packaging and shipping to you – no matter where you live. These prints are simply perfect and by far the presentation ANY photographer would like to share with their customers.
