Over the years I have gotten to know a lot of babies. Short of the fact that I have four of my own, I also have photographed hundreds of children and families over the past 9 years of business. I love meeting babies (from newborns to teens actually) and getting to know each of them individually as we all know that every child we come across is VERY different and has different strengths that they utilize even as infants. Babies are really what life is all about and I feel very lucky that I am currently in a position where I get to meet so many of them – but also their very loving and fun parents.
I got to know Mom and Dad to this BE-UT-IFUL baby the afternoon I arrived to their home – a few weeks behind because the gorgeous dress Mama found had to be handmade in England and it seemingly took a few extra weeks to arrive in Canada, but when it did we were both stoked as it was so sweet and just perfect for little Tessa. Babies like Tessa like nice clothes…
Through the entire session, sweet little Tessa smiled and cooed…and then cried for a bit, but then went back to smiling and posing her sweet little self for most of the session. I love to spend time with babies to let them get to know me and to try and capture a literal ton of different expressions. Babies grow so fast at this age – the face they made today will never again be the face they make tomorrow. It is just how they grow, but to be the one who get’s to capture that is always really fun and Tessa sure delivered. She gave me so many faces during the session in Red Deer – it was beautiful, funny, scary…(teehee) and amazing – everything a baby is meant to deliver. I added a beautiful floral crown from Stems Floral right in Red Deer, Alberta and magic was made.
My personal favourite part of the session though was watching Tessa interact with her parents. She is such a Momma’s girl – the sun rises and set’s with Mommy and you could see it everytime Tessa launched herself at her Mom and planted a big, gooey baby kiss right on whatever Tessa could reach. Baby kisses are the best – and there is no doubt about the intention when you see them do it – they MEAN love – the very definition of it.
Daddy stole the show though in my opinion. Not because Tessa was all about him – any baby around 6 months still feels they are just an extension of Mom and ergo Dad is a close second – but let’s face it…Dad is not Mom. Here is what I saw though: Dad looked at Tessa the same way he looked at his beautiful wife and Mother of his beautiful girl – with total and utter love and devotion. He is so proud of his girls and the warmth of his adoration for them made the temperature of the room so comfortable and beautiful…and when Tessa was done – she fell in love with Daddy all over again as he kept putting yogurt drops into her mouth like a child puts coins in a piggy bank. She really loved those drops and the look on her face each time she saw Daddy had another was pure love.
This session was one of my favourite sessions to date because everything that happened was real. Mom and Dad are extremely genuine and I so appreciated their company during the process. They made me feel like part of the family while I was there and both of them were so excited about these pictures – and that always is the best way to start any session.
Thank you so much Mom and Dad for not only inviting me into your home, but also sharing with me your beautiful daughter whom I enjoyed photographing immensely. She is a beautiful ray of light and her charm is unforgettable.
