Red Deer Event Photography by Suzanne Taylor Photography

Suzanne Taylor Photography recently dipped her toes into Red Deer Event Photography when I was invited to capture a very exciting event.  The Institute for Canadian Citizenship was hosting a very special event for 40 new Canadian Citizens and the event was one of the most fun events Suzanne Taylor Photography has captured in Red Deer since moving to Central Alberta in 2010.

A Little About The Institute for Canadian Citizenship (ICC)

Some of you may be wondering what the ICC is.  The ICC is a charity that was created by The Right Honourable Adrienne Clarkson and John Ralston Saul to deliver programs and special projects that inspire inclusion, create opportunities to connect and encourage active Canadian Citizenship amongst the newest citizens in Canada.  The ICC is fundamental in making sure that immigrants who have been in Canada for up to 5 years (or more) feel included and bring together individuals with similar stories to promote friendship and a desire to participate in the Canadian community and politics.

Event Photography and Invited Guests

As this event is hosted once a year, several distinguished guests were in attendance.  At this event, Tara Veer – the Mayor of Red Deer was included as well as Cree Metis Elder Theresa ‘Corky’ Larsen-Jonasson, Colin Connon, assistant to MP Earl Dreeshen, Frank Bauer, chair of the Red Deer volunteer committee, ICC, as well as City Councillors Lawrence Lee, Frank Wong and Michael Dawe.  It was certainly an honour to photograph an event like this in the City of Red Deer where so many esteemed guests were invited.

So many kind words of encouragement were shared by these guests to the new citizens of Canada.  Prayers were included as well as encouragement so that each individual felt valued and appreciated as they became officially able to participate in voting and were granted all the rights and privileges that natural Canadian Citizens have.

Event Photography in Red Deer has been practiced by Suzanne Taylor Photography for years across different genres.  While weddings are no longer a staple in the Suzanne Taylor Photography shooting catalogue, for over 7 years large and small weddings were part of what made my business what it is today.  I have also had the pleasure of photographing hundreds of people since beginning my photography journey over 10 years ago.
