Calgary Newborn & Family Photography sessions are always such a wonderful time to capture in the lives of my customers.  As a Calgary photographer, you are invited into the home of strangers to capture one of the most beautiful and intimate times in their lives.  I am always grateful for my customers and their openness when they bring home a newborn are happy to share a few hours of their new lives with me.

Three Beautiful Girls and a Grand Snowstorm

A few months back, you may recall a very beautiful snow storm in Calgary, AB where I captured these two beautiful women during their maternity session.  Both Kelly and Erin were expecting their second little girl and I was hired to capture their first year as a family of 4 – from Maternity to the 1st birthday with the Suzanne Taylor Photography’s “Belly to Birthday” plan.  I always wait with anticipation between that first maternity session and the birth of the new sibling.  It is so exciting to know that the new family member arrives safe, sound and very healthy and when I found out that this beautiful child had come home, it was time to start planning this Fine Art Newborn photography session.

The Most Beautiful Features

When I saw this newborn I was so excited.  No joke.  This child had the perfect skin and that doesn’t happy very often with newborns.  Her skin was merely lightened here a bit with just a kiss of enhancement to bring out what the camera can’t when the image is taken.  Her skin was like silk and those eye lashes…I know many a lady who would LOVE eyelashes that long and beautiful.  She also had quite the luxurious head of hair to which even I was jealous.  My girls were bald until they were closer to 2 and even know near 4.5 they are working on hair just past their shoulders.  I loved every aspect of this gorgeous baby and she slept like a dream as well through most of this session.  I felt very blessed.

The Essence of Fresh Flowers

I have been incorporating fresh flowers into my Calgary Newborn & Family Photography sessions for quite some time now.  I love the burst of color and the fresh feeling of the flowers contrasted against the freshness of a newborn baby.  It makes me think of ‘new’ and the colors create such a deep visual contrast to the image.  I love to think of a newborn laying peacefully on a bed of flowers, resting and preparing for a new day to begin.  I find a lot of my influence come from Greek mythology and folklore – even an image I entered into competition this last fall was titled “Persophone’s Baby”.  Adding fresh flowers can create such a unique opportunity in photography – I will continue to offer this option, included in your session fee for a very long time to come.  If you wish to book a newborn session or Calgary Newborn & Family Photography session – please note at that time if you have any flower requests.  I love to tailor sessions to my customers and will always work with you to express your visual plan the best way possible.

Fine Art and Lifestyle Together at Last

Kelly and Erin’s Calgary Newborn & Family Photography session was amazing from the start to the finish.  They had this amazing painted brick wall in their home and were so open to just about anything I suggested.  Whenever I have pure black or white to work with my mind switches over to more of a Fine Art style of photography – in this case, blending the refinement and beauty of fine art with the ease and flow of a lifestyle session.  When I see black I immediately think ‘dramatic’ and the contrast can create such beautiful images to compliment the softer and purer side of the Newborn photography session.  With the fusion of the session, you have a beautiful collection of images that engage the heart and the eye and that is always an amazing opportunity for beautiful art to share with your friends and family as well as decorate your walls with for everyone to enjoy and remember.  If you’re curious about a newborn session with Suzanne Taylor Photography please follow THIS LINK to read more about what to expect during your session.
