Your Best Family Photographer in Red Deer, Alberta

Suzanne Taylor Photography has been a family photographer in Red Deer now for the past 7 years.  We moved to Central Alberta from Northern Alberta in the Summer of 2010 just before I gave birth to my oldest son who just turned 7 a few days ago.  Since I started my business around 1o years ago, I have specialized in several different styles of photography.  I started as a photographer capturing documentary style photography, moved to more posed family sessions, added a newborn into the mix every once in awhile.  After having children, I began shooting more newborn photography and then started to refine my style so that I was comfortable shooting newborn photography is more of a style that I coined my own – simple elegance.

As time continued to march on, I began focusing my photography efforts on creating beautiful fine art images of toddlers and children.  This is one of my favorite styles of photography, but while Fine Art is easy for Suzanne Taylor Photography to capture and create in the digital darkroom, I found it very difficult to try and have families fit into the genre of Fine Art, but I really wanted to try to make that happen.

What I ended up creating for families was the opportunity for Suzanne Taylor Photography to fuse Fine Art photography with the comfortable nature of documentary photography.  Family Photography in Red Deer was forever changed with the idea of Fine Art Documentary Family Photography and recently, Suzanne Taylor Photography had the opportunity to capture a wonderful family near Red Deer, Alberta while they acted like the family they are.

You Can Have Fun During a Photography Session?

I can’t tell you how many times Suzanne Taylor Photography is contacted by men and women looking for more than just ‘nice pictures’.  They are exhausted with the idea of a family photographer in Red Deer just standing there and taking their pictures while they stand nice and look pretty.  Typically, I am contacted because people are very excited about the chance to be captured beautifully as their family interacts, plays, teases and enjoys each other – while looking real life.  I love taking pictures of people who are in love with each other – like how a Mother looks at her child, or how a child laughs as he gives his father a “wet willy”.

The Perfect Family for this Family Photographer in Red Deer to Photograph

I really wanted to thank this wonderful family for sharing their evening with me on that beautiful summer night.  It can sometimes take a leap of faith to trust a new family photographer in Red Deer – especially if your past photography experiences have been either ‘so-so’ or negative.  Photography sessions are an investment, not only financially but they do take time as well.  You have to plan what you will wear, find the photographer and book the session, let alone travel to the session and then the time it takes to actually photograph the session.  All of this is done after you find the perfect family photographer in the Red Deer area and if you have selected Suzanne Taylor Photography, you won’t be disappointed with the time that is spent ensuring that all of those connections, emotions, and bonds are captured exactly how they are as you move through the day-to-day of life.

This family was the perfect example of those connections, emotion, and bonds.  The whole family had such a magnetic energy to them.  They played, teased and loved each other in such an honest and fun way through the photography session.  To be honest, this family made their photography session really easy for me – I just had to be there to take the pictures and I took a LOT of pictures.  The best part of family sessions like these ones is that beautiful moments are created every minute and there is so much to take photos of.  As a family photographer in Red Deer, I always create sessions that I would want for myself.  When I download a session from my Nikon camera, I smile knowing that if I was presented with even 1/10 of the photos I have taken, I would be thrilled.

The Risk Of Missing Beautiful Photographic Moments

Beautiful memories like these need to be captured.  It is so easy to just carry on every day and put off those family photos – knowing that with your best of intentions you will get them done ‘soon’.  What if ‘soon’ doesn’t get a chance to happen though?

We don’t need to look at any major tragedy as a reason why family photography doesn’t happen – rather we just need to look at that thing that we cannot control – and that is time.

I look at how fast my children are growing and think at least weekly how I have been slacking at taking photography of them this summer.  I really wanted to step back at home this year and work to enjoy my Summer with them instead of doing photography shoot’s again and again…and then spending hours processing those images.  Unfortunately, we can’t have it all though and I have traded visual images for experience and fewer images that I hold so dear.  That isn’t really a sad trade-off – I would much rather enjoy time with my kids having fun than just taking pictures of them, but I am an all or nothing gal – this family photographer in Red Deer really likes having her cake and eating it too.

The point is that we cannot stop time.  Every day brings a new child facing new experiences, and that child will never be the one that was here today.  They mature, grow and like we all do, change.  Ensuring that you book at least yearly photography sessions will keep your family alive and provide that visual documentation that will be part of your extended family forever.

Warmly,
Suzie
